The Los Angeles Chapter of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists, offers employee health and welfare benefits educational programs and activities for professional development.
To be a Los Angeles Chapter member an individual must be enrolled in or a graduate of the CEBS program. CEBS graduates must also be a member of the Society. Non-CEBS graduates have the option of being a Chapter only member. The Los Angeles Chapter recognizes student membership for those individuals who are actively pursuing the CEBS, GBA or RPA designations.
Goals of the Los Angeles Chapter of the International Society:
1. Provide continuing education opportunities through educational programs addressing timely and critical benefit issues at meetings and seminars,
2. Offer an exchange of information among employee benefits professionals at the local level,
3. Support candidates in their pursuit of the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation,
4. Encourage involvement in the International Society of ISCEBS, including Committees and Governing Council, and attendance at the annual Symposium
5. Enhance the visibility of the CEBS designation in the local community, and
6. Recruit and retain members.

The Chapter is powered by volunteers. By contributing, they enhance the prestige of the full range of CEBS designations, increase the knowledge of people and groups in the benefits community, demonstrate value to employers and grow in their professional development. Michelle Landrum, CEBS
Meet Michelle Landrum, an accomplished insurance brokerage professional with over 15 years of experience in employee benefits. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Human Resources from Troy University, and is a licensed life/health agent, Certified Employee Benefit Specialist, and Group Benefits Disability Specialist. Her passions extend beyond her work and include transforming healthcare, space travel, and supporting charitable causes.

Karen Hallsman, CEBS
Karen Hallsman has spent over 20 years as an HR and Benefits Professional. She has a BA and MA in Psychology and spent most of her HR career with a split focus between benefits and management development training. Karen received her CEBS designation in 2014, and has served on the LA Chapter Board since 2016. She currently serves as a benefits consultant while working full time as a Life Coach for management professionals in burnout.
Treasurer
Michael Reha, CEBS
Michael Reha, CEBS, is director of group Medicare sales, west region for Humana. Prior to joining Humana, he spent more than 25 years in the hearing industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. He received his CEBS designation in 2011. He is has authored and spoken at the ISCEBS national symposiums and has served on many committees.

Megan Jay, CEBS
Megan Jay is an employee benefits expert with 18+ years in employee benefits. She currently serves as a senior benefits consultant leading her client teams implementing data-driven cost-containment strategies and deploying innovative communications. Megan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. She received her CEBS designation in 2021 and joined the LA Chapter Board in 2023.
